Gyeongsangbuk-do to create a blueprint for intelligent administration. - Government announces plans to develop its “2030 Informatization Master Plan for Gyeongsangbuk-do with six core initiatives and 24 projects -
On January 13, Gyeongsangbuk-do invited more than 50 guests, including informatization advisors and managers, to a “Final Briefing for the Informatization Master Plan for a Smart Gyeongsangbuk-do,” and briefed them on the six core initiatives and 24 projects selected as part of its Informatization Master Plan.
For two hours, Gyeongsangbuk-do shared its vision for “B.E.S.T. Gyeongsangbuk-do that keeps its people happy with intelligent administration.” The briefing session featured an announcement of the Informatization Master Plan revolving around the implementation of an informatization strategy over the next five years, an announcement on the “Construction Information Strategy Plan (ISP) for Gyeongsangbuk-do’s Cloud System” designed to build a Public Cloud Center in Gyeongsangbuk-do, and a discussion with participants on the overall promotion of Gyeongsangbuk-do’s informatization moving forward.
To achieve its vision, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province plans to designate 11 implementation systems (bureaus/departments) and implement 24 informatization projects over the span of five years.
Gyeongsangbuk-do also identified six core informatization initiatives: “Implementation of a Big Data Ecosystem (with a dedicated Big Data Officer) tailored to Gyeongsangbuk-do” as part of a big data promotion project covering the entire Gyeongsangbuk-do region; “Standardization of an exclusive smart farm standardization for Gyeongsangbuk-do (Division of Agriculture and Stockbreeding Distribution Bureau)” to strengthen competitiveness through the use of smart farms such as smart greenhouses, orchards, and livestock pens; “Development of an integrated Gyeongsangbuk-do culture and tourism mobile service (Culture, Tourism, and Sports Bureau)” for cultural tourism experiences that cover both the coastal regions and inland regions; “Development of an ICT-based tele-medicine treatment service (Welfare and Health Bureau)” for smarter care for socially marginalized groups, such as the elderly living alone and those in the blind spots of the conventional health and welfare system; “Establishment of Gyeongsangbuk-do’s own communication network (Local Autonomy Administration Bureau)” to reduce network cable rental fees caused by the gradual increase in CCTV installations; and “Hosting the Gyeongsangbuk-do Smart Challenge Competition (Local Autonomy Administration Bureau)” to secure government funding for the central government’s Digital New Deal project.
Furthermore, for cloud computing services, which are considered the core foundation of Industry 4.0, the Gyeongsangbuk-do laid the groundwork for its own Cloud Center (expected to open by 2025) with its “Construction Information Strategy Plan (ISP) for Gyeongsangbuk-do’s Cloud System” that reflects plans announced by the central government.
Vice Governor for Administrative Affairs Kang Seong-Jo said, “Going down a new path or blazing a new trail is always difficult. But in order to take the lead in the ‘ICT-based intelligent information age,’ which is gradually establishing its presence since the COVID-19 pandemic, leaving each individual institution to devise plans moving forward simply will not be enough. I sincerely hope corporations, universities, the provincial government as well as city and county governments can organize collaborative teams to create a Gyeongsangbuk-do that offers a great blend of people, information, and technology.”
