Gyeongsangbuk-do Holds Hanbok Fashion Show in Dokdo - The first children’s fashion show was held, as well as a tea ceremony demonstration -
The province of Gyeongsangbuk-do announced that it will hold a hanbok fashion show with children er the theme “We Love You, Dokdo” at the Dokdo dock on Nov. 1, 2013.
The event, sponsored by Gyeongsangbuk-do and supervised by Maison De, is a second-time event, following the first one in 2011. The first part will consist of a children’s fashion show, Ganggang Suwollae, a choir presentation, and a “flying paper airplane of dreams” event, and the second part will consist of the hanbok fashion show with models wearing royal clothes, traditional hanbok, modern hanbok, and the costume of the wind, which will be harmonized with Dokdo. The finale will be a kite-flying perance.
Dongdah Association (Honorary President: Choonhee Kim) has prepared a traditional tea ceremony demonstration and sampling event for the spectators and the Dokdo guards following the fashion show.
Fashion designer Younghee Lee, who organizes the hanbok fashion show, has been playing the leading role in the globalization of hanbok by ing the Korean Museum in Manhattan, New York, and by participating in the prêt-a-porter in Paris. She also won high praise from many people the world over by exhibiting hanbok in the Instanbul-Gyeongju World Culture EXPO 2013 event.
The hanbok fashion show is being held to in people that Dokdo is not a subject of dispute but an island of cultural arts. Other cultural events held in Dokdo include Dokdo Concert, Taekwondo demonstration, and an animation production company familiarization tour.
The director of the Environment, Maritime, and Forest ision, Jongwon Choi, said, “I was impressed with the children wearing hanbok in Dokdo. It is very meaningful for the children, who are the driving force of the future, to be part of this event. We will develop Dokdo as a living, breathing, and dynamic island of cultural arts.”
