To mark Dokdo/East Sea in maps, the persuasion should begin with the U.S. Gyeonsangbuk-do holds policy discussions on East Sea and Dokdo at Northeast Asia History Foation.
On December 2, at the Great Conference Room of NEAHF, Gyeongsangbuk-do (governor: Kim Gwan-yong) held policy discussions on East Sea and Dokdo. The meeting was hosted by the Korean Territory Society (chairman: Lee Gi-seok, Professor Emeritus of Seoul National University), and was participated in by experts.
In the meeting, South Koreas activities for the international standardization of the name of East Sea since its entry into the United Nations in 1991 were uated, and the future activities for promoting the names of East Sea and Dokdo were also passionately discussed.
In the afternoon meeting beginning at 2, The Korean Territory Society chairman Lee Gi-seok presented the U.S. governments marking of the name of Dokdo in maps, followed by a series of presentations, the first by NEAHFs researcher Seo Jong- jin about the Japanese Abe governments reinforcement of territorial education and textbooks; the second by Korea International Culture University Graduate School chair-professor Lee Sang-tae about “Sea of Japan,” the name that defeated “East Sea”; and the last by Kyung Hee University professor Ju Seong-jae, entitled “22 Years of Promoting the Name of East Sea: uation and Tasks.”
