Laos Agricultural Training Team visits rice farms and agricultural food processing plants
Gyeongsangbuk-do’s advanced agricultural technology will be transferred to Laos. Towards this end, Gyeongsangbuk-do decided to invite the Laos Agricultural Training Team to its office on the 5th to explain to its members the province’s agricultural policies, and to further Gyeongsangbuk-do’s agricultural exchanges and cooperation with Laos. The Laos Agricultural Training Team consists of 12 members from related government offices, college professors, and research institutions, including Team Leader Do Hoang Ta Xuan Ribong (Head of the Agricultural Management Bureau). They will visit Gyeongsangbuk-do’s rice farms, RPC (Rice Processing Complex), agricultural food processing plants, and 6th industries for 6 days, from the 4th to the 9th. Laos is an agricultural country, where 70% of the population engage in agriculture, but it mostly relies on exporting its farm and livestock produce as it lacks outstanding species of vegetables, fruits, and livestock and has low productivity. To overcome these difficulties, the government of Laos actively requested for this training opportunity. “Learning from Gyeongsangbuk-do’s innovative agricultural technology and experience will increase our country’s farm productivity and income and will improve our rural towns’ economic and social development,” said Do Hoang Ta Xuan Ribong as he requested for Gyeongsangbuk-do’s ongoing exchange and cooperation for the development of agriculture in Laos. “Laos is an agricultural country that depends on agriculture, but its productivity is low due to its primitive farming techniques,” said Joo Ryeong Kim, the head of Gyeongsangbuk-do’s Farm and Livestock Distribution Bureau. “I hope that this training program will lay the foation for Laos’s agricultural development for higher productivity and for a larger scope for Gyeongsangbuk-do’s agriculture.”
