In October, you can have your fill of autumn at the festivals in Gyeongsangbuk-do with its full lineup of events and activities.
Let’s savor the beauty and romance of autumn at the Yeongcheon Bohyunsan Mountain Starlight Festival on October 1st.
The festival held at the foot of Bohyunsan Mountain where the Bohyunsan Optical Astronomy Observatory and the astronomical exhibition and experience center are located will have a variety of programs for astronomy, space, and science under the theme “This is Yeongcheon, the star district.”
In the theme hall, you can learn about the principles of gravity acceleration, a sense of rotation, and air rocket launch. In the exhibition and experience hall, you can enjoy the space suit photo zone, Magdeburg hemisphere, space station docking experience, and space motion training.
In the Bohyunsan Astronomical Science Museum, you can see the stars through an 800mm telescope and even experience the bright sky in a 5D simulator.
Moreover, during the festival, a fun astronomy video lecture is held once a day, and an LED drone light show is scheduled to fill the night sky of Bohyunsan Mountain, Yeongcheon.
From October 7th to 9th, the Uiseong Super Garlic Festival will be held.
Under the theme of Uiseong garlic, a global health food, Uiseong True Garlic Cooking Contest, Uiseong Garlic Triathlon, Our Own Garlic Snacks and Superfood Garlic Theme Pavilion will be held, as well as artistic performances, such as the Sound of Garlic Grinding and Your Garlic.
Cheongdo Bansi (flat persimmon) Festival, which promotes the only seedless persimmon variety in the country, will be held for three days, with the opening ceremony set on October 14th.
Various programs were organized to promote the excellence of Cheongdo bansi in the festival.
Persimmon dyeing experience, Cheongdo bansi picking experience, persimmon vinegar foot bath, and persimmon leaf tea ceremony experience programs will be held on October 16th, as well as unique events such as cutting long persimmons, stacking persimmons, persimmons treasure hunt, and a persimmon dyeing fashion show.

At the opening ceremony held at 2pm on the 7th, you can feel the calmness of mind and body through a daily yoga experience with former gymnast Shin Sooji. A singing ball performance will also be conducted by New Age pianist, Monla.

On the 7th, the Gyeongbuk wellness tourism vitalization forum and the Yaksikdongwon (medicine and food have the same origin) culinary contest will be held.
On the 8th, a healing concert featuring national singer Park Changgeun will be held at 5 pm.
