Gyeongsangbuk-do has plenty of special offers for travelers along its east coast this summer holiday season.

The Gyeongsangbuk-do Culture and Tourism Organization has partnered up with one of the most popular travel platforms in Korea, Good Choice, to host a promotional event for the summer season Good choice! Check out Gyeongsangbuk-do’s beaches! from August 3 to 9.

The event is designed to stimulate demand for local tourism, which has been struggling due to the ongoing effects of COVID-19, by funneling tourists into the five si/gun districts (Pohang, Gyeongju, Yeongdeok, Uljin, Ulleung) participating in the oceanG* campaign (a co-brand for marine tourism along the east coast of Gyeongsangbuk-do).
*oceanG : A co-brand for marine, leisure, and tourism products across five si/gun districts along the east coast of Gyeongsangbuk-do. oceanG is a combination of Ocean and Gyeongsangbuk-do, and the logo is inspired by notes on music paper to symbolize the joyful melody you might just hear or begin humming when you are enjoying marine, leisure, or tourism activities Gyeongsangbuk-do has to offer.

The promotional event will offer products at discounted rates, giving travelers a chance to enjoy the magnificent landscapes, marine and leisure activities, beautiful beaches, and other entertaining programs along the Province’s east coast.

Travelers looking to rest and recharge their batteries in Gyeongsangbuk-do can check out offers featured in the Good choice! Check out Gyeongsangbuk-do’s beaches! event using the Good Choice application. Discounts from 10% to 30% will be available for accommodation and marine/leisure activities.

Gyeongsangbuk-do will also share a variety of travel tips, including information on beaches for surfers, lighthouses, and yachts, to make the travel experience pain-free.

Accommodation discounts are offered for not only the larger hotels in Pohang and other locales along Gyeongsangbuk-do’s east coast, but also pensions (bed&breakfast), resorts, and all vendors registered on the Good Choice platform.

Tickets for various marine and leisure activities such as sailing, surfing, cruises, and aquariums are also available at discounted prices.

Of course, Gyeongsangbuk-do has plenty of tourist attractions (hot places) that are accessible free of charge.

The list of free attractions includes the Hwanho Park Space Walk and Yeonam Sky Walk in Pohang, the Columnar Joints and Songdaemal Lighthouse Light Exhibition Hall in Gyeongju, Sunrise Park and Samsa Marine Park/Marine Promenade in Yeongdeok, National Ocean Science Museum and Wolsongjeong Pavilion in Uljin, and Dokdo Museum and Anyongbok Memorial on Ulleungdo Island.

Adding a few of these destinations to your itinerary might just double or triple your experience in Gyeongsangbuk-do.

Also, Gyeongsangbuk-do will open 23 beaches along its east coast with clear blue waters to the public during the same week.

Each beach will have plenty of unique things to see and enjoy, including local music festivals, sand festivals, and squid fishing events, for visitors.

In a statement, the Director of the Maritime and Fisheries Bureau at the Gyeongsangbuk-do Government said, We hope that travelers to Gyeongsangbuk-do can rest and recharge their batteries on our beaches. He added, Going forward, Gyeongsangbuk-do will develop tourist attractions along the east coast that offer a great blend of the Province’s magnificent natural environment, history, and maritime culture to stimulate the local economy.
